  • Impolite Japanese

Got a warning ticket yesterday for parking in a “handicap” zone. (Well, it is convenient to park there, I admit). But look at the ticket content, you’ll be shocked !

    Handicap Parking Ticket

Here’s how it translates (tried my best, since this is native Japanese and had to look up the dictionary many times)
This parking place is for [physically handicapped], not [mentally handicapped] person like you. Can make out from a car like yours, a person like you won’t understand. You really think your car is too cool? Aren’t you ashamed to act like a complete idiot? Did you ever see your ugly face in the mirror? Pity you do not understand, thus I noted your car number, model and informed to the nearest police station. Don’t ever park in parking reserved for handicap again !

Pretty rude and forthcoming for a Japanese, don’t you think?

I wonder why didn’t this person put his number or contact in case I wish to “consult” to remedy my pitiful situation. No Pity

  • Dell 5150c not noisy any longer

My desktop, a Dell Dimension 5150c, purchased about 3-4 years ago, was annoyingly noisy for a while. Last time when I changed the PSU, I thought the annoyance would go away. But it didn’t. The CPU fan, San Ace 80, was the main culprit. At sometimes (which was almost everytime) it used to power the CPU fan so loud, that to listen to music or watch a video, we had to pump up the volume to almost twice than usually should be.
Today I took up in my mind to replace it, and switched to a Kama-Flex.
Superbly quiet, about 2500 rpm, and cooling efficiency nothing comparable to the older one.
    Was worth the try!

  • Server upgraded to new Ubuntu 9.04 server

The website is up, and running on a brand new OS – Ubuntu 9.04 Server. Supercool to configure, has pre-configured LAMP, OpenSSH out-of-the-box.
Using the UFW was too easy than messing with iptables, or routing.
Feeling great having refreshed up my home server with a mature OS.

  • Amrita turns 1 year today

Our most beloved (did I mention adorable?) daughter turned 1 year today at exact 14:15H Japan time. Phew, it seems ages ago! She took full 3 days to choose to come out of mama’s cozy stomach room. She did give a hard time to her mother – got a sore throat from screaming with contraction pains.

No matter what, she is the hearbeat of our life. There isn’t a single moment when we do not think of her. Our day starts only to end with her every time. Amrita is the most beautiful daughter for us.

Today she got in the park with her mama, playing , enjoying the cool weather with mama of course 🙂 and then coming home for a NICE treat – a mango stuffed delicious yummy cake , which of course wasn’t to be eaten alone without her new friend , little Fumi.

We wish you a HAPPY BIRTHDAY dearest Amrita!
Roses are red, violets are blue,… whatever – we will always LOVE you! 😀
